What Do These ECG Findings Indicate?

Question: Hi Doctor, my recent health screening showed the following results : Abnormal ECG, T wave abnormality consider anterior ischemia and Positive Stress Test, non-specific inversion in arterial leads (pardon my spelling) I was suggested to have Echo Test and will be seeing a Cardiologist next week. I am a 33 yrs old Asian woman. I have high cholesterol (total : 6.5, ratio: 3.1). Please advise what to expect, am I prone to heart attacks and strokes?

Hi Mam.

I understand your query and concern.

As per your ECG findings, there exists a moderately significant risk of acquiring heart disease.

This is particularly more evident in the form of a Positive Stress ECG/Treadmill testing.

Elevated Cholesterol also adds to the risk. Both ECG and Cholesterol testing are additive tools only, but not confirmative tools.

Its extremely important to evaluate the risk in detail through 2D echo.

I also suggest you to have Coronary angiogram, if you have equivocal results on Echo.

A normal coronary angiogram would literally rule you out of acquiring heart attacks in the present scenario.
