I was a smoker but now i dont smoke for sometime.
Brief Answer:
I think lifestyle is enough
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query at healthcaremagic.
In my opinion you do not need medicines since your LDL level is less than 190. Recent recommendation clearly states that an LDL greater than 190 be given lipid lowering treatment. A lower level of LDL is considered only in case of medical conditions like diabetes and hypertension etc.
So you should continue your good lifestyle. Eliminate high calorie foods (milk products) completely from your diet and reassess in 3 months. It is good that you have stopped smoking.
Hope it helps

Hi doc,
Thanks for your reply. Actually yesterday again i had my lipid test done. The result was surprisingly bad ( 281 Total, 186 ldl, 54 hdl, 203 triglyceride) .. whereas hdl incresed to 54 shows my lifestyle changed.. why others are bad ? I smoked almost null in last 3 months. Can indigestion affects the result as i had loose motions for 1-2 days.. Also i was in stress for last 1-2 months can that affect the ldl level.. kindly suggest what shall i do.. I hesitate to take medicin. Is it good to start lemon water in morning ?

Brief Answer:
Values can fluctuate for many reasons
Detailed Answer:
Hi again
Readings in lipid profile can fluctuate for many reasons including meal before blood test and type of food taken previously. Yes indigestion can affect the lipids but it usually decreases. Unless you were eating fatty food after the indigestion episode. Stress can also affect the readings as it affects the eating patterns. Drinking cleaner water should help.
I have personally taken the medicine atorvastatin once daily for 10 days and it did not cause any side effect (and I am a medicine fearing person too). Such a short duration of medicine can also lower lipid levels. Maybe you can take it for a short duration. Still the recommendation of taking medicine at LDL >190 stands. But I personally feel that this short duration will help you.
Yes lemon water (in clean drinking water) in morning helps.
Hope it helps.
