You have to get test done at 6 months for HIV 2 infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. The latest test for HIV testing which is recommended internationally is rapid 4th generation HIV test for HIV 1 and HIV 2 antibodies and p24 antigen which is combo test. This test is conclusive for HIV 1 infection after 30 days in countries like the US where there is only HIV 1 infection.
2. However because you are in XXXXXXX therefore there is a 2 percent risk of HIV 2 infection. Therefore the test for HIV 2 antibodies is to be done after 6 months.
3. There is no separate test for HIV 2 infection and you can get tested for HIV 1 and HIV 2 antibodies after 6 months from exposure for confirmation. This is because HIV 2 infection has maximum window periods of 6 months and there is no other test which can look for this infection.
3. There is no need to have mental tension because 97 day combo test is negative and this means 100 percent that you do not have HIV 1 infection. However there is a 1 to 2 percent chance of HIV 2 infection
5. If you do the combo test 6 months from exposure and if the result is negative then it will be completely confirmed that you are safe from HIV infection.
Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.

In Chattisgarh also there is slight chance of HIV 2 spread
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
1. The statistics show that 2 percent of HIV infection in XXXXXXX can be from HIV 2 virus. Therefore in Chattisgarh also this can spread. Please do not get panic and for peace of mind get the 6 months test done for your safety.
Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.

After 3 months test your report is 98 percent confirmed
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
1. The use of the word conclusive is for 100 percent confirmation.
2. If you want to know about chances that you will not get HIV because your 3 months report shows negative then it is about 98 percent.
3. There is still 2 percent doubt which requires the 6 months test.
Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.
