What Do These SGPT And SGOT Levels Indicate?

Will answer one by one.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM,
Thanks for sharing the reports.
I have seen the attached reports here and can understand your concern,
1) Here your SGPT (154) and SGOT (43) are mildly elevated and they would have NO clinical significance in an otherwise healthy individual. Your previous history of jaundice many years ago and slip disk are highly unlikely related to it.
I would not be personally worried about it, since SGPT and SGOT are highly sensitive liver function tests and might get easily elevated even with fatty meal or even mild alcohol intake.
The other causes of SGPT rise could be use of pain killers (NSAIDs ),use of various types of non herbal health supplements, obesity and heavy exercises. (Hepatitis B test is negative,so no need to worry about liver problem).
So, do not worry about it and possibly avoid fatty/junk/oily foods further if you take so.
Further,I would suggest you to repeat the test for SGPT and SGOT after 4 weeks on fasting blood sample and most probably they will come down to normal limits.
Meanwhile, you may take tab.Udilive 300 mg twice daily. It is a bile acid, a substance naturally produced by the body and does not have any side effects.
You may also take syrup LIV-52 DS 2TSF daily which is a herbal preparation having hepato-protective property and may be beneficial for you.
2) Your total Cholesterol 232,triglycerides 155 and LDL 166 levels are slightly high (not too high) but they are not alarming that you should be worried. There is nothing concerned about it much.
HDL (good) cholesterol is slightly low and so your TC/HDL ratio and LDL/HDL ratio are elevated.
The probable reason for high cholesterol, trilgycerides and LDL could be lack of enough muscular exercise or oily and fatty foods.
These mildly elevated cholesterol levels can be managed with regular exercises and some dietary precautions.
So,you should do regular exercises at gym or at home (as per your convenience) for about 30 to 45 minutes daily to get maximum response.
Also, to reduce your bad Cholesterol and to increase good (HDL) cholesterol follow these dietary guidelines along with regular exercises.
i) Avoid direct sugars intake and fried snacks, bakery items,
ii) Take good amount of vegetable salads- raw vegetables like cucumber, tomato, carrot and vegetables. You can also eat them raw.
iii) Take healthy snakes or nuts like almonds or walnuts and a few dry fruits but no fruit juices,
iv) Avoid soft drinks as they are only for taste having NO nutritional values.
v) Take vitamin B3 (niacin) as it is believed to increase HDL cholesterol.
You can go for yearly check up of your lipid profile and there is no need to worry at present about this high cholesterol.
3) Your Vitamin D (8.2) and calcium are low and need correction.
You can take vitamin D3 cholecalciferol in sachets forms or tablet forms 60,000 IU once weekly along with calcium supplements (tab.Shelcal) for 6 weeks initially.
The major cause of vitamin D deficiency is lack of proper sun exposure or person remains covered throughout the day.
Apart from medical treatment, you should have adequate sun light exposure preferably in morning hours around 8 AM for minimum 10 to 15 minutes daily.
Once your vitamin D level will be restored then it is not necessary to continue further vitamin supplements. You have to take balanced diet with proper sunlight exposure to prevent deficiency in future.
4) Rest of all other reports (liver function and kidney function along with thyroid function tests) are completely normal.
Hope this detailed answer is helpful.
