What Do These Bilirubin Levels Post Jaundice Treatment Indicate?
Question: Sir,
I came to learn of acute jaundis in my random blood test wherein my Bilirubin (Total) was detected to be 1.32. I was advised to drink lots of water and lemonade to help reduce my bilirubin levels. I had to travel overseas due to work. After coming back, i got another LFT done wherein my Bilirubin had risen to 3.65. However, i am NOT FEELING any symptoms associated with jaundice (like yellowing of eyes, skin, debilited energy levels, etc). I was advised physical rest & jaundice diet by the doctors. It has been 6 days now and my bilirubin have reduced to 2.1. However, i have not felt any symptoms during this entire duration of illness.
Also, when can i start mild exercising?

Brief Answer:
You are on the course of good recovery
Detailed Answer:
Hi I understand your query and concern.
You seem to have mild metabolic liver derangement.
You are on the course of gradual recovery.
In case of liver metabolic disturbances, the biochemical or lab cure lags clinical cure.
Hence the lab abnormalities take more time to correct.
You are on perfect dietary plan and physician's care.
It will take another 3-6 weeks for the liver abnormality to settle down.
Continue with your doctor's advise.
Post your further queries if any,
Thank you

I got fresh LFT done today and my bilirubin (total) has now come down to 1.86.
How much time will it take for me to recover. Can you suggest a HOME REMEDY to help lower the bilirubin levels faster.
When can i join office?

Brief Answer:
It takes 2-3 weeks to get normalalized.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Your bilirubin is only slightly high.
It will come down slowly.
You can join office once it comes down to less than 1.
Consume a high amount of green leafy vegetables along with daily oatmeal of 50-70 gms to have prompt reductions in bilirubin levels.
It will take apprx 2-3 weeks from here on for the levels to normalize.
Thank you.
