What Do These Blood Glucose Readings Indicate?
Fasting: 90
After break fast: 81.
Then i repeated this test this week again. and got the result as follows.
Fasting: 81
After break fast: 60.
Is there anything to worry much about this reduction in blood sugar level after food..?
thanks in advance
It could be due to high insulin levels

Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome to HCM. I have gone through the question and understand your concerns.
Please share with us your weight and height. Do you have anyone in the family with diabetes?
Decreased after food blood sugars when compared to fasting is due to high insulin in blood. This is a very early sign of diabetes. The first defense system of our body to diabetes is by increasing insulin levels in blood. This usually will normalise fasting sugars but will usually decrease the after food blood sugars. These changes are seen many years before development of diabetes.
Don't worry. You just need to decrease the sugar content of food and try to have frequent small quantities of food high in fiber.
Additional test you can do is HbA1c (3months average blood sugars).
Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help you.

Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome back.
Your sugars are low. I truly understand that the common logic is to eat more sugars when you have low sugars. But it is not true.
There is something called reactive hypoglycaemia. This is because when you are obese and at risk of diabetes, your insulin levels are high. When you eat food the glucose in food stimulate more insulin secretion. This insulin will bring down the sugars low after food.
The diet you should follow is similar to diabetic diet. 3 major meals ( breakfast. lunch and dinner) and 3 snacks should be there. More vegetables, fruits like apple, orange and banana can be taken. Less refined sugars and more fibres.
Have regular exercise of 1/2 hour per day.
