Question: Hello Doctor,
Today My second test was done for Life insurance of LIPID PROFILE.
In LIPID PROFILE all range are normal but one LDLC/HDLC RATIO shows below normal of 1.59
Is there is any risk in low ratio.

All other reports has been attached which done yesterday for insurance.
I had a cough from last 5 days so might be ESR is high range of 20
Request you please go through all my reports.

Also please suggest food plan if cholesterol is low.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Your lipid profile is perfect , NO food changes required

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX I am Dr Mody and I would be addressing your concern.
As I start I would like to congratulate you as all your blood reports including lipids is perfectly normal, and you need not change anything in your diet or lifestyle for the same .
1) lipid profile : the Ldl is the bad cholesterol and the hdl is the good cholesterol . In XXXXXXX population , hdl is generally very low because of lack of exercise and no fish or other sources rich on omega 3 fatty acid or anti oxidant is in diet .

My suggestion is according to latest 2015 guidelines for managing cholesterol by XXXXXXX heart society and endocrine forum .
They recommend that the minimum risk for heart events is when you Ldl is less than 70 , which is very rare to have except you are on medication and hdl more than at least 40 for males. So both the values are optimum for you and so you need not worry .
Also ldl/hdl ratio on lower side is good to have , and no treatment needed for the same .
2) your kidney ,liver , hemogram , thyroid are all normal
3) Esr 20 is not to be considered significant and nothing needed for it .

So I would recommend
1)30-45 mind of exercise daily
2) good anti oxidants in diet - 2 servings of fruits per day and at least one green vegetable in both meals .
What else you are doing is just working good for you . So continue the same .

Thank you Doctor for your best answer.
Another thing i had to discuss, sometimes in a month or in 3-4 months my bp rises suddenly at night upto 135/90 .. which last for 2-3,days.
But in rising period it raises only at night.. If same condition continue in 3-4 day then i m taking half tablet of ctd 6.25 then it disappear for longer period.

Sometimes i had pressure in work or sleep late at night so might be this reason.
So like to know Doctor sudden bp rises for temperoray period, Is i am suffering with pre-hypertension.

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Cut salt in diet , avoid such sos medication for hypertension

Detailed Answer:
Hello , It might be a possibility that you are may be in pre hypertension particularly the lower blood pressure being 90 , the chances for which may be more if you have a strong family history for the same .
Now Ctd is a diuretic, so with it if your pressure normalise , that you should cut down on salt in your diet , because Ctd removes the extra salt . Make sure that your salt intake per day is less than 3 gms, so no fried food , no food with preservatives, no chips , pickles , papads. Normal salt for cooking food is okay at present, just no sprinkling for taste .
Now 130/90 is not the pressure where you should take medication, and personally I am not in favour of sos medication for hypertension, as sudden fluctuations in pressure are more detrimental to our body system. Try avoiding the same .
Consider doing 24 hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring atleast once a year as a routine too detect any signs of pre hypertension.
If any further clarification needed I would be happy to help .
You may rate for other ppl reference

Brief Answer:
chericof, Grilinctus CD as alternative. Consider tab allegra , atrax

Detailed Answer:
Hello , It's just as your family history is strongly positive you just have to be more precautious and monitor blood pressure more often , however taking unnecessary stress wouldn't help . You are young , exercise 40 mins a day and eat healthy food . It's should be more than enough.

As you have dry irritating cough, taking a cough suppressant will help .
Some good cough syrups similar to tus q are
Syp chericof, syp Grilinctus CD.
All these medication including tus q can cause sleepiness , so avoid driving or operating machines .
Also an anti histaminic medication like allegra, atrax or levocetzine may be taken once at bedtime or two times a day based on symptoms.
