Question: I'm attaching my blood test result from Oct., 2015. I am 72 years old and quite healthy. Would you give me a brief analysis. Based on these results do you think I need blood thinners for protection against

heart attack or stroke? Thanks for your help.

Brief Answer:
No indication of a need for blood thinners.

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

After reviewing those tests the only abnormality I see is a slightly elevated fasting cholesterol. That is not dealt with blood thinners though, but through a Mediterranean diet and lipid lowering drugs like atorvastatin.

As for the other tests they are normal, but I have to say that they do not have much of a relation to stroke, do not influence the decision of whether a blood thinner is needed.

I remain at your disposal for further questions.
