What Do These Blood Reports Indicate?

Question: Hello Doctor, I visited a Internal Medicine Specialist due general weakness.

I have attached recent blood reports taken off late on recommendation of the doctor.

Dec 2016:
Have been told i have a fatty liver from tests that were conducted a year ago, it was attributed to being over weight, how ever you will see Liver tests are not normal right now.
I have lost over 12kgs since March 2017 until now, the healthy way, no supplements and no crash diets. I watch what I eat and exercise regularly.

A 2nd opinion would help to understand if the tests below are required.

I have been asked to come in for Kidney test + Sonograph as my Ferritin levels are abnormal.

Brief Answer:
No renal disease in reports

Detailed Answer:
hi,

i have seen your reports . i dont see any evidence of kidney disease in them.

kidney disease can be detected by simple tests like serum creatinine in blood , urine routine test and ultrasound kub.

kidney disease should be suspected in case you have leg swelling or high blood pressure.

also if a person has diabetes or high blood pressure. kidney disease should be suspected

best wishes.

1) Do you suggest I go in for any other tests based on the reports I have shared. Does anything seem out of place?

2) Are the Ferritin Levels normal as per the report, would you recommend any further tests?

3) Is there any explanation to the Fatigue that you would link the to Blood Reports I have submitted?

Brief Answer:
please read detail answer

Detailed Answer:
the three reports you have submitted are

1. urine culture which is normal.- No urine infection
2. thyroid - is normal
3. CRP - an inflamation marker. - average range

YOU have not done any test for kidney function in the three reports provided

there is no report of ferritin in the reports provided.

wheather you should do other tests depends on why you did the test in the first place

do you have diabetis or blood pressure
what are the physical complains for which you need medical attention

please describe in detail

The reason i mentioned the kidney function test was - I was told by the doctor to get one done, i was not happy with the diagnosis hence i brought this to you. I do not know the reason why he told me to do it. I am clear with your message on the Kidney tests.

My query now is:

1) Can my fatigue (Based on initial query) be linked to any of the reports that i have attached here. If yes what do you recommend i do?

2) Ferritin levels report is now attached here, do you think i need to do something to get them in range or is this normal?

3) I have also added my liver function test report, I have had a fatty liver as i am overweight (Was told this when i when went for a general health check-up in Dec 2016), have lost 12 kgs since March 2017. i do not consume alcohol now. I had Jaundice 15 years ago, the readings on the liver have been such ever since.

4) I am a thalassemic Minor, hence the blood count comes across anaemic. Tests determining that i am a thalassemic minor were done 10 years ago.

Do you recommend any dietary supplements or anything else after going through my reports?

Thank you for your patience, it sure is challenging interpreting patient messages on emails.

ive attached further reports

Brief Answer:
please see detailed answers

Detailed Answer:
1) Can my fatigue (Based on initial query) be linked to any of the reports that i have attached here. If yes what do you recommend i do?

the reports do not show any reason of fatigue

2) Ferritin levels report is now attached here, do you think i need to do something to get them in range or is this normal?

ferritin is high- stop any iron tablets or suppliments if you are taking them. you cant do anything more at present. repeat iron studies and LFT after 3 months

3) I have also added my liver function test report, I have had a fatty liver as i am overweight (Was told this when i when went for a general health check-up in Dec 2016), have lost 12 kgs since March 2017. i do not consume alcohol now. nothing special to be done at present. alcohol is HARMFUL for liver

4) I am a thalassemic Minor, hence the blood count comes across anaemic. Tests determining that i am a thalassemic minor were done 10 years ago.

No need to repeat them

Do you recommend any dietary supplements or anything else after going through my reports?

avoid non veg and fatty foods. take less salt in diet

I have gone through all of your reports. you have not done kidney function test. most important is to get serum creatinine test and urine routine and urine spot protein creatinine ratio- these have not been done.

Please do them

best wishes
