What Do These Blood Sugar Levels Indicate?
Im 163 CM tall, and currently weighing 61 KG
Indicates insufficient insulin production in response to a sugar load
Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your concern.
Why did you monotor one hour post glucose test ? During Gluocse tolerence test, fasting and 2 hour post glucose values are recommended. One hour post glucose test is only recommended in pregnancy.
What was your HbA1c test result ?
If your fasting glucose is between 100 and 126 or if 2 hour post glucose value is between 140 and 200, it is called as prediabetes. An HbA1c value of between 5.7 % to 6.5% is also called as prediabetes.
Glucophage improves insulin sensitivity and reduces insulin resistance at muscles, liver and fat. However, it dosent stimulate insulin production from pancreas. So if you take a large carbohydrate meal ( like 75 gram glucose), the sugars can still go high indicating the insuffient insulin production capacity of pancreas. This may indicate a future risk of developing diabetes.
Hence even while you are on Glucophage, you will have to avoid heavy carbohydrate meals.

My endocronologist recommended the 1 hour post. I am not pregnant so dont know why that is.
the HbA1c was done on 28/01 and result was 5.4. This was not repeated the second time the blood tests were requested.
Although i was on glucophage, i avoided all cabs and sugars.
at this stage, and with the info that i shared, is there something i need to worry about? or do you recommend that i do the 2 hour post gluc test to check?
My concern is why has it spiked to 210 after being so careful? do i need to get my pancreas checked?
May repeat GTT ( off Glucophage)
Detailed Answer:
Well, the hba1c was normal. You have to understand that, sugars spiked after a heavy glucose load. 75 gram glucose is a lot of carbohydrate.
Glucophage doesnt take away your risk of diabetes completely. It only minimises the risk. The test indicates that, you have to reduce your carbohydrate load and be in a healthy weight range and do moderate exercise. Your current weight is okay for your height.
Being on glucophage, it surely would alter the glucose tolerence test. So you may stop it for 2 weeks and repeat a 75 gram glucose tolerence test ( fasting and 2 hour post glucose)
How are your periods? Do you have any history of PCOS? Any family history of diabetes?

My period for the last 5 years was (8-9 days) 1 day period, 2 days no period, then 5 days period....
until i started my diet, and then my period changed and was just 5 day period, for 2 cycles only.
now its back to the 1 day period, 2 days no period, and 5 days period.
I dont believe we have a family hisotry of diabetes. and havent heard of PCOS until last week when a friend asked me about it... should i be testing for PCOS? is it done at a OBYN or where exactly?
Irregularity in period need evaluation
Detailed Answer:
Yes, you may need to see a gynecologist preferably on the third day of periods to conform PCOS. PCOS is a pre diabetic state .
