Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern and would explain that your blood pressure seems to be above the normal ranges.

You should know that blood pressure values up to 140/90mm Hg are considered to be borderline and no treatment is needed, besides lifestyle modifications.

But above these values, arterial hypertension should be considered.

I recommend consulting with your GP for a careful physical examination, a resting ECG, a chest X ray study and some blood lab tests :

-complete blood count
-kidney and liver function tests
-blood electrolytes
-fasting glucose
-thyroid hormone levels (thyroid function)
-cortisol and aldosteron plasma levels (adrenal gland function)
-PCR, sedimentation rate (inflammation)
-blood lipid profile

to exclude other secondary causes of high blood pressure.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues and consider the possibility of starting anti hypertensive therapy (a calcium channel blocker, a thiazidic diuretic or ARB class ).

Besides, I would also advise you some lifestyle modifications, which would help reduce your blood pressure:

-modify your diet (reduce salt and caffeine intake)
-perform a lot of physical activity (4 km walking per day is recommended)
-reduce weight, if you are overweight.

Hope to have been helpful!

Feel free to ask any other questions, whenever you need!

Greetings!

Dr. Iliri
