What Do These Following Biopsy Reports Indicate?
Question: Hello Doctor,
I have done 2 biopsy for the base of tongue. The first biopsy was in February 2016 and the second one in March 2017 (Both reports are attached for your review). Does the reports indicate any sign of per-cancer lesions?
I would appreciate if you could explain what the findings and diagnosis mean in the second report.

Hello dear.
I have gone through the details and the reports.
The changes hyperplasia means increased no of cells in layers of tongue which is most likely due to a sequele of viral infection. Similarly, lymphoid hyperplasia refers to increased no of lymphoid cells due to same reason.
The condition is not pre-cancerous but I'd strongly advice to have a second opinion about biopsy report from another pathologist.

The changes hyperplasia means increased no of cells in layers of tongue which is most likely due to a sequele of viral infection. Similarly, lymphoid hyperplasia refers to increased no of lymphoid cells due to same reason.

I am a bit concern about this statement in the report "Lymphocytes infiltrate the surface epithelium" ... what does it mean? what conditions is Lymphocytes infiltration associated with?

Hello. The sample needs to be examined again. The changes are all viral but again hyperplasia is difficult to define. Viral infection can lead to cancer sometime and hence biopsy needs to be reexamined.
