What Do These Following Blood Reports Indicate?
Question: Hello,
Iam 52 years old female who collapsed 3 months ago whilst working. Since then I have been to see many doctors and even specialists in the UK and France where I live. The French haematologist told me to rest completely and may take 6 months to recover.
My while blood cells and platelets are very low and would like a second opinion on next steps.
I am constantly tired after any sort of activity - please note I am very fit and have run over 13 marathons.
Please can you review my blood test results and advise you recommendations.
(sorry they are in French but Iam sure the numbers are the same)

Also in previous test results my ferratine was also very low but for some reason my GP has not asked for that to be re-tested.

You need to search the cause for low wbc and low platelet count.
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, welcome to HCM.
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
You have low wbc count and low platelet count. Your platelet count is slightly low. So its not a cause of big worry. Your wbc count is low and cause should be investigated . It can be due to some viral infection or some other bone marrow pathology. If you have persistent low wbc count then bone marrow examination should be done for further evaluation .
Otherwise just repeat your complete blood count after 1or 2 weeks.
Low Ferritine level suggest iron deficiency. However your hemoglobin is normal. So it should be repeated. Please send me your reports of Ferritine and Iron studies.
Nothing to worry much. Just be relaxed. Yoh will be ok within short time.
