What Do These X-ray Findings For Back Pain Indicate?
My husband is 32 yrs old
He had pain in his back and made xray this is his report
X-ray ls spine ap, lateral and spot view:
Findings:
Loss of lumbar lordosis.
Mild anterosuperior osteophytosis on L5.
Prominent anterior concavity of T12, L1 vertebral bodies.
Vertebral bodies height and alignment are within normal limits.
Disc spaces are preserved.
Impression:
Findings suggestive of paraspinal spasm
So can u explain this does he have disc? Or its just stretching in muscles ?
mostly just muscle spasm
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
Loss of lumbar lordosis means that he has lost some of the normal curvature in the lower spine and this is often due to muscle spasms. Osteophytes are small calcium deposits and mild ones do not mean much of anything. If they were severe it could be a sign of osteoarthritis. The concavity in the T12,L1 vertebral bodies means that there is a concave shape to these bones but this is very minor since the disc spaces and vertebral body heights are normal. This could be a variation of normal anatomy or just a normal finding and is not an explanation for his pain. The overall results just shows a healthy spine with some spasms of the muscles causing a decrease in the normal curvature of the lower spine. A chiropractor or physical therapist could help relieve his pain and teach him some exercises to avoid pain in the future.

doubt MRI is necessary
Detailed Answer:
You are welcome. You could get an MRI if you want to be sure but it is unlikely to show any abnormalities with such a normal xray. I sincerely hope he is feeling better soon.
