Question: the CT Scan report of my mother says ---- "Hypodense lesions with loss of cortico medullary demarcations in gangliocapsular regions, left frontal region, priventricular corona radiata and central semiovale--- S/o subacute hypoxic ischemic changes". hat does this mean??

Brief Answer: Please find detailed answer below Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX Thanks for writing in. The CT scan brain shows that there are few areas in the brain in which there has been decreased blood supply at some point in time. These regions are in basal ganglia and capsules, left frontal cortex and around an above the ventricles. These areas are not a result of manifested complete stroke bit can be a clue that the brain tissue in these areas is getting slightly lesser oxygen (hypoxic) but they are not largely affected by that. The brain tissue is able to sustain itself but needs a clinical opinion to prevent stroke like symptoms in the future. You should consult a neurologist and discuss the medications for hypermania and if any other medications need to be added. Hope your query is answered. Do write back if you have any doubts.
