Posted on Tue, 5 Aug 2014
Question: Its been 5 months since TTC . I have been taking Nidagest since last three cycles, starting from 15th day of my period to about 10days from 15th day. But ended up getting my period.. is this normal?

I was also suggested to get a follicular scan done? Wuld this help me figure out my ovulation days accurately?

Kindly suggest...

Brief Answer:
FOLLICULAR MONITORING WILL HELP

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
As such, Nidagest contains progesterone.
It is not a medication that helps to conceive, it just supports the growing embryo in case you do conceive after ovulation, that is why it is given from 15th day onwards.
So if you got your period, that can happen.
Get follicular scanning done for the next 3 cycles, that would help to pinpoint the days of ovulation and fertility, you can plan intercourse around that time.
It is a good idea to get your husband's semen analysis done.
If 3 cycles of follicular monitoring fail, then next you can go for a laparoscopy to check if your fallopian tubes are patent.
Maintain a healthy BMI and take regular 5 mg per day folic acid tablets.
All the best.
Please feel free to discuss further.
