Brief Answer:
NEED TO RULE OUT IUGR BY CLINICAL ASSESSMENT.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:
1) One week less growth on
ultrasound scan in comparison to original
gestational age (calculated from last period date) at 7 months of pregnancy may be NORMAL thing as ultrasound scan gives a gross fetal maturity at the time of scanning.
One week discrepancy of fetal maturity is mostly considered NORMAL if other fetal parameters including weight are within normal range.
2) Here, we need to rule out
Intrauterine Growth Retardation (IUGR) by proper clinical assessment and repeated obstetrical ultrasound scan.
Pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH or high BP) is often associated with IUGR baby due to utero-
placental insufficiency. You can consult with your OBSTETRICIAN regarding this.
Severe hypertension or Pre-eclampsia/ Eclampsia can cause
fetal distress if it is not properly treated. After birth, Special Neonatal Care in NICU or SNCU may be required in some cases.
3) BP should be well controlled with safe anti-hypertensive drug. Salt restricted diet is preferable. Blood sugar, urine albumin and other investigations should be completed in due course. She would take protein rich healthy diet or L-Arginine granules like LRZin FORTE (1 XXXXXXX daily for 1 month mixed with 1 cup water). Drink more water for better feto-placental circulation and take adequate bed rest in left lateral position. Do periodic check up to your doctor.
Hope, I have answered your query. Kindly, close the discussion, if you don't have any other query.
Wish her good health and successful motherhood.
