What Does "This Exam Is Degraded By Respiratory Motion On All Pulse Sequences" Mean?

Thanks for your follow-up with me.
I had my Abdomen MRI and MRCP test done last week.
I got my results back and it says "This exam is degraded by respiratory motion on all pulse sequences".
I was surprised by this because I was able to hold the breath very well whenever technician asked me to hold the breath.
The images were not of good quality.
I'm wondering, Is it very common with abdomen MRI? Could it be because of the MRI machine or technician?
Is MRI accurate enough to find small tumor on pancreas or liver?
Thanks again for your help and time!
Best Regards
You can go for contrast CT scan of abdomen.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX
Sorry for replying late.
Motion is the most prevalent source of MR imaging artifacts. It is not related to MRI machine or technician.
Respiratory motion results in ghosting artifacts and blurring that can obscure or it can simulate lesions.
In your case, artefacts may be due to not fully complying to the instructions. It is very common due to long examination time and reduced lung capacity in aged patients.
MRI is very sensitive to detect small tumour of pancreas or liver.
If there is such problem in MRI,you can go for contrast CT scan of abdomen. It is also very sensitive to detect lesions.
Spiral CT scan takes very less time for scanning and patient is instructed to hold breath for small period.
Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your question.
Further queries are most welcome.
