Question : I did my blood tests and my creatinine was 155 ...2 years a go it was 160 .... what does it mean ?

You have not mentioned the units in which the creatinine value is reported . Most likely it is in micromol units .
Normal value of creatinine is 53-106 µ mol/L . So your value of 155 means your Creatinine is elevated .

Serum Creatinine tells about the function of the kidneys . Elevated values means there has been some damage to the kidneys ( reversible or Irreversible ) . The cause of which has to be evaluated .

Some of the common cause are 1. Diabetes 2. Hypertension . 3. Extended use of NSAIDs ( pain killers ) 4. Excessive Vomiting or loose motions . 5. Glomerulonephritis 6. Pyelonephritis 7 . Interstitial Nephritis .

I advise you to consult a Nephrologist ( Kidney Doctor ) and get the evalaution done .

There is no need to panic as your value is slightly high but do consult your Nephrologist .

Dear doctor , thanks 4 ur answer ... But wanted 2 explain 2 u that my creatinine has been high 4 almost 10 years ... It has been 150 to 60 during the past 10 years .. Its obvious that some damage have occurred and the last time I visited the kidney doctor was 3 years a go and he said that as long as I am maintaining the same creatinine level I am fine.. He did also my 24 hour urine protein test and it was ok .. He has informed me that my kidneys are working 55% . What I am concerned about this time is my urea which is 9 and my urea accid over 400 .. But the creatinine was lawer than last time ... It was 160 2 years ago but this time it was 155 .. So my question is that if the ceatinine is lawer that before , does that mean I am getting worse or I am better than before ?? Or are my kidneys r getting worse or are they staying the same ? if this time the urea is higher although the creatinine is lawer does that mean more damage oCcurred ?

Among urea and creatinine , it is the creatinine which is more sensitive than urea. This is because blood urea depends on body's muscle mass and hydration status of body also. So a reduction in your creatinine means your kidneys are slightly improving . So no need to worry.

But I insist you ask your nephrologist to find out the cause for your kidney problem. Plan right measure to prevent further complications.
