What Does A Hard And Painless Lump Base Of Neck Indicate?

FNAC / Biopsy
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for your query. Noted your age 34 years, and symptoms - Hard painless lump an inch away from the left ear and just below the hairline. Oh, the internet is a virtual medium, thanks to it that I am in a position to answer your query. But when you do research on internet, it is always unilateral. Not like we are interacting with each other.
As a general rule the swellings at a point you have mentioned are most of the times a small sebaceous cysts which never turn into cancer.
Second rule- there are no known lymph nodes at he hairline, so this can not be a cancer.
Thirdly, age of 34 is not a age common for any cancers, particularly of those varieties that can have the swelling at a place you have mentioned.
Fourthly, since you have such a strong phobia, I would request you to get this investigated and removed and subjected to histopathology report.
I would advise you the following:
Consult an ENT or a general Surgeon, get the investigations done, particularly, ultrasonography, FNAC- Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology. This will get us the exact diagnosis. If still there is a doubt, a simple small surgery can be undertaken to excise (remove) the swelling.
We have 2 benefits.
1. The diseased part is removed.
2. The removed swelling is subjected to histopathology examination to get a ''confirmed'' diagnosis.
I hope this answer helps you to get a correct course of action and get stress-free.
Wishing you a good health.
