Brief Answer: Swellin in groin Detailed Answer: Hello, This is your query regarding a lump in the area where your groin and thigh meet. In almost all cases this is due to an enlargement of an underlying lymph node. There are plenty of lymph nodes in that area known as the inguinal group of lymph nodes and these can be enlarged in cases of infections in the anogenital area and lower limbs most commonly apart from other causes. In most cases a treatment of infection in any of the areas mentioned will lead to a resolution of the swelling although in many cases it might persist for a few more weeks even after complete resolution of the infection. Visit a doctor if the swelling increases in size, becomes extremely tender or if additional swellings appear. If you do not feel much discomfort then you can observe it for a few days. In most cases a course of antibiotic would lead to a resolution of the swelling. Please let me know if you have additional questions, I would be happy to help you out. Dr. Souvik Adhikari
