Brief Answer:
Thyroid or laryngeal pathology suspected.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

Feeling a hard ball in the middle of the throat could be due to thyroid enlargement.
As you have mentioned that you feel the need to clear the throat many times a day, the hard swelling could be due to some laryngeal swelling.
Thus, on the basis of history, I am of the opinion that the swelling is due to thyroid swelling or due to laryngeal swelling.
I would suggest you to consult an ENT specialist for clinical assessment.
An ultrasound of the neck may also be required to know the status of thyroid.
Management of the condition can be done once diagnosis is made.

If you have more queries, I will be glad to answer.
