Brief Answer:
Cancer is hardly possible.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Patella malignant tumors are extremely rare. It is thought that around 70-90% of all patella tumors are benign lesions. The most common are chondroblastoma, giant cell tumor (GCT) and aneurysmal bone cyst (all are benign).
In vary rare cases patella lump can be a metastatic lesion from lung or prostate cancer. Lung cancer is more probable if you smoke. Prostate cancer can give problems with urinating.
Other malignant lesions are extremely rare.
In diagnostics I suggest you to start with an X-ray of your knee and MRI if necessary. If you smoke, chest CT should be done. Please also consult urologist.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
