What Does A Hemoglobin Level Of 126 Indicate?
Question: How bad is a hgb count of 126? YYYY@YYYY
Brief Answer:
Please upload the report.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I would insist you to use full form while writing. By hgb count do you mean hemoglobin? For hemoglobin, for men the normal range is between 13.5 to 17.5 grams per deciliter whereas for women, 12.0 to 15.5 grams per deciliter. So the range does not match. I would insist you to upload the report so that I can evaluate the level and guide you accordingly.

The 126 was in units of grams/litre. I should have given you the units but assumed everyone used the same. That would be 12.6 on your scale. Does this mean I am anemic? Could it be causing the shortness of breath I have been experiencing?
The report is 3 pages long and I'll have to figure out how to send it. I'll try scan to pdf and paste into one of these boxes. I can't do that immediately because of restraints of the .seniors residence I am in. Meanwhile I'd like a first response to the meaning of the 12.6 g/dl number.

Brief Answer:
Not anemic.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Sorry for not being able to respond faster.
A hemoglobin level of 126 is quite acceptable and should not count as anemia. Levels much lower than this are needed to cause respiratory distress and so I would not attribute it to hemoglobin levels. If you have a respiratory distress, visit a doctor and get your chest examined to rule out any lung pathology.
Feel free to write back in case of further queries, if any.
