What Does A Itchy Rash On Neck And Arms?

Question: Hi I started out with a rash and swollen on my right ankle went to the doctor and he said it was sertis dermatitis (think that's wrong) anyway I wear a back brace I have idiopathic scoliosis and the blood flow isnt so good. A couple of days ago I broke out in a small rash on my neck which now is progressing down my arms and today my hands, shoulders. I started taking benedryl and have been apply a triple antiobiotic ointment. Stopped using scented lotions. No fever, don't feel sick, dizzy or anything like that. Very itchy of course and I make it worse and redden by itching. Haven't changed my diet or routine I however am in a lot of stress with us losing our home and going thru the process. I take anxiety meds and high bloodpressure meds. I have had mitral valve repair surgery several years ago. With the scoliosis have lost three inches so gained some weight. I would appreciate any thoughts you could give

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for the description. A photograph would have helped me understand the rash better.
A itchy rash limited to one dermatome could be simple flare up of zoster or shingles. I think the antibiotic may not help much. You should see a local doctor for prescription of nerve pain suppressants, cetrizine, possibly acyclovir and some Ibuprofen for the pain. Meantime I suggest you to take Cetrizine for itch and stop scratching which can aggravate the current situation. Apply calamine lotion on the rash. Use a different soap now.
I still wait for a good picture to help take a decision.
