What Does A Pea Sized Bump On Penis Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 18 Jun 2014
Question: Hi, about a week ago I noticed a bump about the size of a pea on the shaft of my penis, it was really uncomfortable, but not necessarily painful unless I touched it. I stupidly tried to squeeze it (had to squeeze really hard) and it burst and lots of yellow pus came out, along with a little bit of blood. By the next day it had scabbed over, but then the scab came off and it was leaking puss. At this time my lymph nodes on the left hand side also felt really tender and had small lumps. By the next day it had scabbed over again and when the scab came off there was no puss, but it looked like a yellow ulcer and stung if I touched it. Its been another two days now (so a week since I first popped it) and there's no more discharge, but it still looks like a round yellow sore about half an inch across, with some red swelling around it. I still have small lumps in my lymph nodes on the left, but there's little to no tenderness. I haven't had unprotected sex, but I have had "hand jobs" (sorry) and unprotected oral sex in the past few months. Does this sound like the symptoms of syphilis or genital herpes? :(

Or if it isn't syphilis or genital herpes, are there any other diseases it could be?

Brief Answer:
can be simple bacterial infection.VDRL test needed

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.I can understand your concern.

Genital herpes is always painful and it manifests as small fluid filled blisters which rupture producing small multiple ulcers.Lymph nodes are also tender in case of herpes.

From above description you can make out that it is not herpes.

Unprotected oral sex, painless ulcer along with lymph nodes point towards syphilis. However syphilis is not commonly encountered now days.

A third possibility is a simple bacterial infection like pyoderma. As you have squeezed it it can form ulceartion.Secondary lymph nodes are also commonly seen in pyoderma.

Complete your course of augmentin.Apply a topical antiboitic cream like t bact.

In case there is no improvement then go for VDRL test which is used to rule out syphillis. It will be better to consult a dermatologist.

Hope this will solve your query. In case of any concerns I will be happy to help you.Take care.
