What Does A Red Rash Around Groin Area Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Oct 2014
Question: I have a large red rash that developed a day ago. It is around my groin and thigh area, more pronounced on the left side. Now I also see mild rash developing on my wrists and around my armpits. What could be the cause? I have atrial fibrillation, had an ablation procedure, and started taking two drugs to control the rate post procedure. The drugs are diltiazem and verapamil. I want to rule out a drug allergy as well.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for posting on HCM.
I can understand your concern regarding the skin lesion.
From your description it seems you have either some allergic skin reaction(Urticaria/Hives) or some fungal skin infection( Tinea) but its difficult to point specific diagnosis in absence of clinical examination.
Therefore, I insist you to post good clinical pictures with history and description of associated symptoms along with the rash, so that I can help you in a better way.
