What Does A Spot In The Eye Hampering Vision Indicate?

Question: I work up this morning with a tiny speck like spot in my eye that only I could see, now it's like a string ( or worm like) that is moving around when I move my eye and blocking part my vision. I's worse when I am out side , it seems to move up to the middle of my vision than sink to the bottom after a couple of seconds.

I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history.
These symptoms indicate floaters.
These are usually because of opacities in the vitreous which lies behind the lens.
Most of the times floaters does not require treatment and will resolve spontaneously.
But since in your case since this is of sudden onset this requires evaluation by ophthalmologist.
Your ophthalmologist will do a indirect ophthalmoscopy to look for any problems like vitreous hemorrhage, vitritis, vitreous detachment....
Hence I advice you to consult your ophthalmologist for this test to look for any of the underlying causes and treatment accordingly.
