What Does Altered BUN And Serum Creatinine Levels Indicate?

The test results are to me are suspect since the test also showed dehydration and my Thai g/f gave me a dinner of half a chicken and nothing else the evening before the lab test. How should I proceed?
Continue with Amlodepine

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day
Dear Mr,
BUN is within normal limits, BUN can get altered with state of hydration. It gets elevated due to dehydration. Serum Creatinine is more specific marker for Kidney function. It usually is not altered by state of hydration of an individual.
Diet intake has no significant impact on Creatinine value. One more point to be noted is there is sequential elevation in Serum Creatinine level with increase in age after 50 years of age. Serum Creatinine level of 1.4mg% can be sonsidered normal for age of 64 years.
The Physician would have switched over from Losartan( anti-hypertensive which acts by blocking Angiotensin II receptor), it may require dose adjustement when there is elevated Serum Creatinine. Some Physician prefer switching over to other class of antihypertensive. Try taking Amlodepine ( Calcium channel blocker). You can follow uo the blood pressure, further addition of antihypertensive can be considered if the pressure is not controlled.
Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.
Take Care
Best Regards
