Question: My sister is scheduled for a brain MRI this week after having one for her back/hip. What might they be looking for?

What are some of the causes of muscle weakness? The muscle/joint pain is moving to the shoulders and upper arms.

Muscle weakness may be due to many reasons like myopathy,CNS disorder,genetic etc.It may be due to infection,inflammation,autoimmune causes etc.
It need proper evaluation and investigations.
MRI(brain) is routinely advised for screening.

Muscle/joint pain moving to shoulder and upper arm may be due to problem in cervical spine.
Arthritis should also be excluded.As pain is radiating to upper arms,it is important to exclude inter vertebral disc prolapse in cervical spine.

The Rheumatologist is suspecting Polymyalgia Rheumatica, possibly genetic. She is a Fragile X carrier. Could this be somehow related?
