What Does Body Temprature Of 35 Degrees Indicate?
Question: My ten month baby girl has been off her food for two days and had a cough for two days. Her temperature read between 34 and 34.7 last night (wr were aware we might not have been using the digital eat thermometer right and kept getting different readings) and now it reads 35. She is still asleep and I took all these readings while asleep. The baby's dad took her into the sea a couple times over last week for a dip. We are in the south of France and outside temperatures here have been hot and XXXXXXX approx 28+ degrees. He only took her after 4pm so to avoid main heat of the day.
Should I be worried at this 35 temperature she is reading?? She's feeling clammy too but she's also teething. We don't speak French so worried about going to the hospital here.
I was going to see how she is when she wakes up and them taking her temperature again once awake and crawling around.
She is still asleep now at 8.15am (normally wajes 7/730am) but i thjnk thats because it was a disturbed night and we kept accidentally waking her up by trying to take temperatures and moving her. She cried every time we woke her but we guessed that's cause she's tired as it was between 11pm and 3am we did all this. Thank you. Baby is ten months and 2weeks old.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to health care magic.
35 degrees is normal doesn't qualify for fever which needs paracetamol or acetaminophen.
Give her plenty of liquids once she wakes up.
Dehydration is usually the trigger factor for fever in hot temperatures.
If temperature is more than 37 degrees it is advisable to give her acetaminophen.
If cough deosnt improve take her to nearby center to get her examined to rule out chest infection.
Wishing your child speedy recovery.
