default
Posted on Mon, 10 Nov 2014
Question: I am away and think I have a boil under my scrotum in the sack. Size of small grape. I have been in bathing suit for a week. Just occurred over last week. Can I wait to see a doctor another week and a half. Is there something I should do now?

Brief Answer:
Hot fomentation, T bact cream

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

It seems you are having bacterial infection. Continuous use of bathing suit produces moist environment leading to infection. Use some good antiseptic soap.

If possible use loose cotton undergarments. Keep area dry and clean. Do not try to squeeze the boil. Hot fomentation over the boil at times can cause liquification of pus and drainage of boil.

If you are having pain take analgesics. If available you can also apply topical antibiotic like t bact cream over the affected area.

Hope this will help you. In case of any concern I will be happy to help you.

Take care.

Brief Answer:
hot fomentation will work.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for follow up.

If no creams are available then hot fomentation is the best option. At present since you are not having much discomfort there is no need for aggressive treatment.

You can get in and out of ocean and pool, but make sure the area is clean and dry after you are out of water immediately. You can also use a good talcum powder over the affected area to maintain dryness.

Hope this will help you. Take care.

It has started to ooze. I squeezed a little to get puss out. A bunch came out but seems like there is a closed pocket with more. I am using neosporin hot compress and started amox-clav 500mg 3 times a day. Is there anything else I should be doing?
Thanks again

Brief Answer:
seratopeptidase tablets.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for follow up.

Do not try to squeeze too much till it matures completely.

Continue with neosporin hot compress and amox clav.

You can add seratopeptidase contaning tablets like chymoral forte. Your local doctor will know about this medication. This will cause more liquification of pus and proper drainage.

Hope this will help you. Thanks .Take care.
