What Does Brain MRI Showing Dark Spots In Neck Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Jun 2015
Question: I had a brain MRI and noticed two round dark spots on either side of my neck in what looks like muscle. One is in line with my jawbone and the other is slightly lower. As the slices move further back, there are multiple spots inside the white fleshy area that look a lot like bubbles. I cannot find any MRI pictures on the Internet that look anything like this. What could they be?

Brief Answer:
These rounded structures in coronal images are blood vessels.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

These are called as signal voids. These rounded structures in coronal images are blood vessels.
Flowing blood in blood vessels doesn't give any signal in MRI and it appears as rounded structures.
So,you don't worry about this. These are normal findings.

They seem a bit large to be blood vessels. Did you view the images?
