What Does Dry Retching Indicate In An Alcoholic?
I am on lyrica and probably drinking too much alcohol too. I have been dry retching every morning and the only thing that stops it is a very strong drink! it started with anxiety and I just tried a drink so that I could get to work. I also have dyspepsia and am so tired of it all, waking in the morning retching, drinking etc. can you help?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks choosing HealthcareMagic for your query.
Have gone through your details and i appreciate your concerns.
Basically dyspepsia results when the acid of the stomach comes in contact with the mucosa of the digestive tract. These acids cause a breakdown of the mucosa leading to inflammation and irritation, which leads to indigestion. It may also result from eating disorders or certain medications.Alcohol damages the gastric mucosa and aggravates the symptoms of gastritis and causes severe gastric erosion eading to inflammation of the mucosa.
Rx-
Take a proton pump inhibitor like Esomeprazole 40 mg twice daily along with a prokinetic drug (eg.Domperidone) for 3 days. This will provide you symptomatic relief from symptoms.
Any over counter probiotic should be taken for few days to provide relief in symptoms of indigestion.
General precautions-
Don't sleep immediately after eating, wait for at least two hours before you go to bed
Avoid spicy foods as they tend to aggravate symptoms of dyspepsia
Space out your meals, eat multiple smaller meals instead of few large ones
Restrict smoking and alcohol consumption
Hope i answered your query with relevent details.
