What Does Excessive Spotting During Periods Suggest?
Question: Hi,
I have been off birth control since January 23rd of this year. I have very regular periods starting on the last days of the month usually stoping on the 1 or 2nd of each month. This month i started bleeding brown blood a week before my period is due. I was having the brown blood for 3 days. This morning I woke up with a cramp and went to the restroom when I whiped it was bright red, almost watery. Was the brown blood 3 days before this red blood because of a cycle change?
Please note my fiancé and I are trying to conceive. We had unprotected sex prior to the brown blood

Brief Answer:
Just a normal variation.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The brown blood could be due to an aggressive intercourse or due to an impending period. This can be due to a mild change in the cycle. Such mild variations are common and normal. There is no need to worry.
Just wait for the bleeding to increase and the period to be over after that. No medication is needed since this has happened for the first time.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

I dont think it was because of that. Its was 3 days of brown discharge like the kind you get sometimes after a period. Then i got a heavy period
Brief Answer:
Can be due to hormonal changes.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
If it is not due to intercourse then it can be due to mild hormonal changes due to stress or changes in diet or exercise. If you had a normal period after that then it is not worrisome.
Hope my answer is helpful.

My "period" that came after the brown blood discharge is heavy and it has alot of blood clots im also getting cramps and lower back pain
Brief Answer:
Due to hormonal imbalance.
Detailed Answer:
It is further suggestive of a hormonal imbalance. If the heavy bleeding continues for more than 5 days then it is best to consult a gynecologist for hormonal treatment to control the bleeding and cramps.
