What Does High Triglycerides And Low HDL Indicate?
Question: I am overweight, 80-100 lbs., not at risk for diabetes, have switched for over a month to a plant based diet (some fish), lost 20 pounds, have high ast - 51 high alt 68, high triglycerides 253, cholesterol not bad at 204, 36 good 117 bad, bilirubin pushing high end 1.1, sometimes brown urine with white foam (protein?). Good chance of NAFLD? (non drinker - non smoker) negative for hepatitis.
Brief Answer:
hello
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Good day.
The profile of high triglycerides and low HDL could suggest a diagnosis of metabolic syndrome and the liver function abnormalities may suggest a fatty liver with NAFLD. However you need to rule out other causes like hepatitis. Need hepatitis serology and an ultrasound of liver.
I noted that you mentioned, about low risk of diabetes. But NAFLD itself is a risk factor of diabetes.
Please get a sugar profile done.
Losing 5% of weight and regular exercise will improve the liver functions. Starting on a cholesterol pill will also improve the fatty liver as well as the cholesterol values.
Please monitor the liver functions a month later.
