What Does Itching On Legs During 36 Weeks Of Pregnancy Indicate?
Question: Hello Doctor,
I am XXXX,
I am completed 36 week of pregnancy. Finger crossed as of now, no issue which will lead to C-Section. But I am having some itching problem in whole body mainly in legs.
Due to that doctor advised me to go for LFT(Liver Functioning Test).
Till now two LFT done in last 4 days. after first test doctor advised me to take Udiliv (150mg) (Ursodeoxycholic Acid). which helps me to reduce SGPT and SGOT, and these value came down in last test. Please find attached report.
Question :- As per doctor delivery due date is 10 April. but after changing in SGPT and SGOT parameter in LFT she asked me to come and admit on 7th April. I am not incliend for C-Section. But is it ok to admit before having natural labour pain... as doctor said on 7th morning if no labour pain in that case they will induce pain.
Please give us advice - is it ok to go for induced pain delivery or wait for till 10th april and then go for it.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
Dear XXXX,
I can understand your concerns.
I think you forgot to upload the reports.
Kindly upload the reports of your LFT and your recent ultrasound reports (if possible).
Has your itching reduced after taking the medication?
Do you have any other medical illness like hypertension or symptoms like headache, epigastric pain, vomiting, swelling over feet?
Induction of labour before due date is done if there is some risk expected with the continuation of pregnancy for mother or baby.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Can wait till 10th april.
Detailed Answer:
I have gone through your LFT reports.
SGOT and SGPT are not significantly raised.
Alkaline phosphatase is raised but not worrisome. It can usually be raised to this levels in pregnancy.
Kindly upload the reports of your recent ultrasound reports (if possible).
Has your itching reduced after taking the medication? I would like to tell you that slight itching is physiological (normal) in pregnancy.
Do you have any other medical illness like hypertension or symptoms like headache, epigastric pain, vomiting, swelling over feet?
Induction of labour before due date is done if there is some risk expected with the continuation of pregnancy for mother or baby.
As you have mentioned that you pregnancy has progressed normally till now, I do not think there is an indication for induction of labour before due date (provided you have no risk factors). In my opinion, you should wait till 10th april.
Hope this helps.
Feel free to ask further.
Take care.
Thanks.
