What Does Lower CRL During Pregnancy Indicate?

Question: Hi there,
I want a second opinion please, I am 6 week 5 days roughly pregnant, I had a scan at 5 weeks 2 days and bloods checked with a 59 % increase in progesterone. I had a vaginal ultrasound also where gestational sac was seen. I was due to go back on Mon the 13th however i went along today for a early scan due to spotting and cramping.
There was a heartbeat however the CRL measured 3.2mm which the midwife informed me was very small and would result in a miscarriage and to come back in 10 days for another scan. When I came home i did a bit of research and found that this does not always mean miscarriage.
Please could you maybe answer this question, Iam 41 years old no children and had a miscarriage last year.
Best wishes

Brief Answer:
Dont worry
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
You are right. Lower CRL does not mean probable miscarriage.
CRL is a subjective measurement and few mm difference in measurement does not make much difference and could be due to operator error.
The good news is that heart beat is present which is a strong indicator of healthy pregnancy.
Regards

Hi,
She might have compared your report with somebody else and commented this. I dont see any slow growth as long as you are seeing heart beat.

doyou know what the size should be at this stage
Brief Answer:
CRL
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
At 5 weeks and 2 days the size is around 4 to5 mm. But is is best measured only after 7 weeks. Hence the CRL before 7 weeks is not accurate and hence not to be relied.
seeing heart beat so early is a good news.
