Question: Could you please explain this in layman's terms.....?
Moderately prominent opacification of left side of sphenoid sinus      
without air-fluid levels. Obstruction of the left sphenoethmoidal      
recess.

The findings you have mentioned are radiological findings which indicate an abnormal lining mucosa in the air spaces in the facial bones called the sinuses.
The finding indicates a chronic infection, allergic state leading to inflammation or a blocked outflow tract from the sinus.
You should consult an ENT surgeon of your locality because the condition needs close evaluation and at times needs surgical intervention.
