Posted on Tue, 3 Feb 2015
Question: Hi my name is XXXX. I have had sinus problems for about 4 months straight. I have been prescribed (2) different antibiotics (1) Amoxicillin (2) CIPRO because my PC Doctor thought I had a Sinus Infection. I got "No" relief. I had a C-Scan and a Chest X-rays. C-Scan= some Inflamation but ( No ) infection. Chest X-Ray= clear. I am going to an ENT doctor on 1/16/15. I purchased an Air Purifier $350.00 . Not sure if it is helping or not. Started using Nasacort (24) seems to help a little. My question is "Could I have some allergy that I don't know what it is causing me all this sinus trouble? I do-not know what to do next. I am getting very frustrated and discouraged that the Drs. Can't Find Out What Is going on. Nasel rinse= Not Much help because my Nostrils are clear but sinuses are always congested. Terrible Headaches too.= Help!

Brief Answer:
You might need an endoscopic sinus surgery.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
Thanks for your follow up question .
I can understand your concern. This is not due to any allergy. You got chronic sinus infection. At this stage you need an endoscopic sinus surgery to clear your disease. I recommend sinus surgery because :
You are not responding to medical line of therapy that is all medications, sprays for more than three months.

I will tell you how sinus surgery helps:
You know our sinuses are lined by mucus membrane, which continuously produce mucus , drained through a opening in each sinus. The recurrent infections cause narrowing of sinus openings and the pus builds up in sinuses and causes headache and nasal discharge. At this stage no medications can resolve the infection, no sprays can help to open up the narrowed sinus openings .
In such cases we enlarge the narrowed opening, so that the pus no more builds up in sinuses and we also remove a polypoid and unhealthy mucosa , so new healthy mucosa forms.
I am sure you will be benefited with sinus surgery.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions, I am happy to help you.
Wish you a good health.

Truly,
Dr Paparaja S MBBS MS

Dr. Paparaja, Thank-You so much for giving the information concerning my Sinus condition. I think that you are absolutely correct in your findings and final solution to end this problem that I have had to deal with since summer of 2014. So I have had this congestion and headaches everyday all that time. I am going to see an ENT Dr. On Monday XXXXXXX 19, 2015, and will definitely tell him your thoughts in which I agree and what you suggest is the only remaining solution because I have tried everything else with "No" results. Again Thank You Dr. Paparaja for all your help in hopefully being the end of this painful sinus condition. XXXX
