What Does My CT Scan Report Indicate?
Question: I went to urgent care with severe side pain (near kidney on left side) and they found no infection. The pain worsened and I went to hospital and they took blood and ran a CT scan and determined that it was a kidney infection. The urgent care doctor (who we know personally) was concerned because his test did not reveal any infection. It has been six days of taking antibiotics and the pain is still there (not as bad though) and a bruise and now today a rash has emerged in the same area near the left kidney.
What does the rash and bruise tell us in regards to kidney infection versus kidney disease. I hold my urine in all day at work and go to the bathroom 4 to 7 times at night. I also have a funny taste in my mouth.
Does this sound like kidney infection or kidney disease to you and what should we do next?

Brief Answer:
Contact dermatitis
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for getting back with the photos. The image of the rash is blurred and not very clear however I see that you have a rash on the loin region and another rash near the spine. This type of rash is not related to infection of the kidneys. The following are the possibilities
1. Insect bite
2. Allergy to a new cloth, especially a sweater
3. Viral exanthema
I suggest you to use Tab acetaminophen for the pain, it can be taken three times a day after food, for the itching and pain tab levocetrizine twice a day will help. If the rash increases then I suggest you to approach a dermatologist however it is most likely to subside on its own
For the smelly urine please send a urine routine and culture to prove urine infection. The most often cause for smelly urine is concentrated urine because of dehydration. I suggest you to drink 4-5 glasses of water a day and see for improvement
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
Regards
