What Does My CVS Test Report Indicate?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I am sorry that you had to abort your baby.
I appreciate your concerns.
I read the cvs report. It is clear from the report that your baby had Down's syndrome.
Down's syndrome is a condition in which the cells in the body have an extra copy of chromosome 21. These babies have below average intelligence . Some of them also have cardiac and intestine problems .
There is a type of Down's syndrome which runs in families. But your baby's Down syndrome is not of that type. So don't worry about it. Your baby had Down syndrome because of defect in chromosome pair separation during formation of egg/sperm . It is not known why it happens. It is more common in women aged 35 and above.
Implication--Although you are just 30 years, since you had one pregnancy with Down's syndrome, your chances of having a Down syndrome baby are marginally more than the general population of your age.
I quote again it is ONLY marginally more.
When you conceive again you need to do CVS or amniocentesis to make sure that your baby is fine.
I hope this helps.
If you have further concerns, I will be happy to answer.
Follow healthy behaviour

Hi Miss XXXXXXX
Welcome back.
You can plan your pregnancy any time from now. There is no problem with it.
Again I repeat that the Down's syndrome that your baby had is not the type which is due to defect in parents' genes. So don't worry.
In general you can follow certain healthy behavior to reduce the chances of birth defects in baby.
- Maintain normal BMI
-Stop smoking and alcohol ( if applicable to you)
-Take healthy diet.
-Not more than a cup of coffee daily
-Take folic acid tablet daily. This helps prevent major birth defects in baby's brain and spinal cord.
-Check and make sure that you do not have diabetes. If you have it needs to be well controlled before trying for pregnancy.
-Check your immunity for rubella. If not immune get rubella vaccine before trying for pregnancy.
-Avoid close contact with people who have infections.
I hope this helps. If you have further concerns, I will be happy to answer.
