Brief Answer:
Please follow instructions as mentioned below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I read your query and I understand your concerns about low amniotic fluid.

Following is my reply:

1) 7.3 is not very low amniotic fluid. This is marginally low (8 is normal), Hence not to worry much.

2) Drink lots of fluids, eat water rich foods like watermelon, don’t use much salt, and don’t go out in hot sun or hot places. See to it that you are well hydrated.

3) Avoid medicine like cetrizine.

4) Repeat an ultrasound scan next week to know if the AFI is really low. If so you can opt for intravenous fluids to improve amniotic fluid volume.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Dr. Mahesh Koregol

Hello Dr. XXXXXXX

Good Evening..!

Today we went to hospital and they did AFI scanning for my wife and now AFI level is 6.9 Today , So doctor has suggested for cesarean operation in coming 3 or 4 days and she also mentioned that this is 'oligoamnios'.So we are planning to admit in hospital on 21-Jan-15.is it fine to wait 2 more days as we planning for 21-Jan-15..?

Could you please suggest us and what would be the reason for this king of issue.

Thanks,

Brief Answer:
Get second opinion ultrasound scan

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand that AFI is reduced further.

I suggest you get another ultrasound scan done from another competent doctor in your town to confirm if AFI is really low.

I don't think cesarean is necessary based on one report only. Please confirm it from another doctor before deciding on cesarean.
