Hi Mr. XXXXXXX
Welcome to Health care magic.
I understand your concern about HIV exposure and I can gauge the anxiety you have been through in the past few weeks.
Firstly, I want to explain few details about HIV infection to make you understand the situation better.
HIV is Human Immunodeficiency Virus which is most commonly spread through the sexual route. Other routes include through blood and from mother to child.
The semen and the vaginal secretions are rich with HIV particles in HIV infected individuals.
HIV enters the body through minor abrasions in the genital mucous membrane during intercourse and infects cells called macrophages which carry the virus to the local lymph nodes where it replicates and gets spilled into the blood. This takes about 4-11 days after exposure.
Hence, there is no test which can detect HIV within 4 days of exposure.
Antibodies against HIV are produced after 3 weeks to 3 months of exposure. Hence any test for HIV antibodies should be done after 3 weeks.
There is a window period where the individual may be HIV infected but may show negative results for HIV antibodies.
Hence it is best to do a confirmatory test for HIV antibodies after 3 months to be very sure.
Now coming to your situation, you are negative for HIV antibodies after 24 days after exposure.
I would suggest another test for antibodies after three months just to confirm your HIV negative status.
I would suggest usage of barriers(condoms) till confirmation of your HIV status.
Coming to your lymphocyte count, absolute lymphocyte count is at the lower range but when compared to the overall WBC count, it is normal.
Your other test results are in the normal range too.
Please get a confirmation test done after three months to ensure the negative HIV status.
If you have any more queries please get back to me.
Thanks.

Dont the HIV RNA test detect the virus? I took that test look on top at the 24 day mark plus the ag/ab 4 gen that is not conclusive?????? Im lost so I might be positive?????? Be honest with me..
HIV RNA is conclusive
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr. XXXXXXX
Welcome back.
If you have undergone HIV RNA testing along with antibodies, then there is no necessity to do any confirmation test after 3 months.
I was under the impression that you have undergone only antibody testing after 24 days after exposure.
These tests are conclusive enough. There is no reason for worry.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks.

No further testing required
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr. XXXXXXX
I have seen your complete query. I had missed the RNA test as it had gone to the very end of the query.
HIV RNA test is conclusive enough.
No further testing required.
Thanks.

Like I notice I still get sore throats easily?
And I was really tired about 2 weeks after w nausea and very dizzy.. it lasted for a couple of days it felt like a concussion feeling.. I couldnt be out on the beach..im still scared that it might be hiv infection but the test missed it.. please respond.
HIV test kits used are reliable kits
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr. XXXXXXX
I understand your concern but the kits used for HIV testing undergo rigorous rounds of quality control before being used in labs.
Labs also have very strict protocol to follow when dealing with HIV testing.
Coming to the symptoms you have mentioned, they can occur in any viral infection. These symptoms do not suggest HIV infection.
Moreover, stress and anxiety can cause decreased immunity which can predispose for repeated infection.
Regarding feeling of dizziness, these symptoms have to be further evaluated.
I suggest you get in touch with a neurologist and get a through examination done to rule out other causes.
Please quit worrying about the test results and get a thorough evaluation done for your present symptoms.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks
