Question: Dear Doctor....

this is to follow up my 1st question few days ago.

Does the rapid test HIV such as Vikia, Hexagon, and One Test is to detect of the antibody of HIV in the blood?

Based on the TWICE performed, three rapid kits result is Non-Reactive and one rapid kit is indeterminate (as the line is showing very thin)

Need advice on the performed result so far.

Thank you

Brief Answer:
Yes rapid test HIV is for detection of antibodies to HIV in the blood.

Detailed Answer:
As you have mentioned three rapid kits result are non-reactive and one rapid kit is indeterminate and you had all these tests after 3 months than it is 100% sure that you are non-reactive to HIV because at the end of 3 months more than 95% people will have enough antibodies to test positive.

Dear Doctor...

Thank you for your kind answer.

I am in the stage of confused right now. My 1st test on 4th May 2015 resulting Reactive based on CMIA method, immunochromatography and ELFA.

I went to another clinic on 11th May 2015. They withdraw my blood sample and performed TWICE (for their assurance) a quick rapid test using 4 different kits. Based on the rapid test performed twice, 3 rapid kits(Vikia HIV1&2, Hexagon HIV, and One Step Test HIV1&2) resulting NoN-Reactive and 1 kit (Oncoprobe) is very half visible thin line....

I am still waiting for my CD4 and viral load result.

What is the cause of the two different labs having different result? I am now in the very confused and anxious stage on how to trust which temporary report while waiting for my CD4 and Viral Load.

Thank you doctor....

Dear Doctor....

Just in case you did not read my previous thread, please help to read it... So, it will give you a more picture and complete story of what happened to me.

I wrote couple days ago, but the customer service close my discussion as the doctor has no further comments.

I do hope you can give me more perspectives.

Thank you in advance, Doctor....appreciate your kind response....

Brief Answer:
Sometimes it happens as a result of technical error due to procedure used.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, sometimes it happens that two different labs are giving different result mostly as a result of technical error due to the procedure or the kits used. So again I will say as your two results are negative than the chances of having HIV infection are very less. Usually rapid antibody tests are very sensitive even when viral load in the blood is very low. But you can wait for viral load and CD4 count as it will give you an accurate result and also rule out the very small probability of miss. As your friend I will also advice you not to take too much of stress as it is not good for your health in other means also. Thank you and Take Care

Dear Doctor....

Thank you for your kind answer.

Does the rapid kit test 2nd generation or 3rd generation enough to pick up the antibody even viral load is low.

I understand that even viral load is low, the antibody will always be there.

I will take your advice not take too much stress on it. It is just that my 1st result is reactive and 2nd temporary result on rapid test kits are Non-Reactive. It gets me confused.

Need you advice.

Brief Answer:
Yes rapid test kit is enough to pick up the antibody with low viral load.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, hope you are feeling good and somewhat relaxed today. The rapid test kits are competent enough to pick up the antibody for HIV even when the viral load is very load as I have already said earlier. Once again I will say don't get so much confused just wait for viral load and CD4 count. After having these reports you are absolutely sure about your confusion. If still any query you can get back to me anytime, I am here to help you. Thank you very much.
