
What Does My LFT Test Reports Indicate?

Question: Hi doctor. Had a recent blood ttest.
I am a type 2 diabetic and have started slow release metformin.
My liver function test came back a bit abnormal.
I am obese
Aspatate transferase came back 52
And
Alananine came back 64.
Billirubin was 15
Alkaline phorospahte was 118.
Is there anythjng to worry about?
I was taking statin 40mg simvasatin.
But stopped after several unpleasant sideaffects.
Pls help reassure me.

thabks for the query. I understand your concerns.
mild elevation of liver enzymes is not uncommon. one of the most common causes actually is obesity.
cholesterol medication can also affect liver function but it sounds like you are not taking that anymore.
I would recommend you have the liver function test repeated again in 4-6 weeks. at that time if there is still a concern then the doctor may suggest an ultrasound of the liver to make sure it appears normal.
otherwise would not worry much for now. it's important for you to maintain a healthy weight with healthy diet and exercise.
