Question: I suffered injuries to my rt knee...MRI shows complete ACL tear, posterior horn of medial meniscus tear, and tibial plateau fracture...How long do I have to wait to have surgery? Does the fracture have to be totally healed before surgery can be completed?

Brief Answer:
4-6 weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.

If you are planning for an arthroscopic surgery then you need to wait for 4-6 weeks till the fracture is healed.

The other option is to go for an open surgery where the internal fixation of fracture is done and simultaneously the torn ligament and meniscus can be repaired.

I hope this answers your query.

In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.

Wishing you good health.

Regards.
