What Causes Excessive Saliva Post Arthroscopic Knee Surgery?

Good afternoon, I recently had an arthroscopic surgery done 2 days ago on my right knee and ever since I've been producing an unusual amount of saliva in my mouth. Is this a common side effect of surgery ? My throat is also sore as well as my lungs, but slightly.
