Question: I had an MRI on my head due to sinus problems. Are you able to tell me what the attached MRI shows? Would this cause some dizziness when walking and unsteadiness. Also ringing in ears.

Brief Answer:
The ideal imaging for the paranasal sinuses is a CT scan.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. The ideal scanning modality for the paranasal sinuses is a CT scan and not an MRI scan.

2. The images show a left maxillary polyp. This common and does not require treatment. A DNS (Deviated Nasal Septum) to the right with nasal turbinate hypertrophy is seen.

3. The only way this can lead to dizzines, unsteadiness and ringing in the ears is by causing Eustachian Tube Dysfunction (ETD). An Impedance Audiogram can detect any middle ear pressure changes.

4. These findings are common and routine treatment settles these symptoms.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
