What Does My PET Scan Report Indicate?

Question: Hi. My dad just had a lobectemy of the lung- they saw a nodule on the pet scan of the right upper lobe that was active- so once they were in performing surgery they confirmed it was cancer and removed the lobe. The surgeon said margins looked great but as a precaution they send to pathology along woth the cancerous nodule. What will happen next? If they removed the lobe with the cancer and nothing has spread- will he be ok? Thank you so much.
Brief Answer:
Careful follow up

Hello and welcome in HCM
I can understand your concern
According to the history you provide the cancer was of the first stages and this is very important and a good thing for him.
If there was only one lung nodule (and not in other organs) nothing will happen he will be followed up carefully with CT scans and tumoral markers.
Usually lung cancer of first stages has a good clinical outcome .
So don't worry so much. He should be in close control with his treating doctor and i am sure he will be in good conditions.
Take care and i wish a fast recovery for your father
